Final Creative Critical Review
How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
In our short film opening ‘Empty Room’, we went for melodrama, mystery and documentary approach to the film. That we will tell about the mental disease that call ‘Multiple Personality Disorder’, which we decided to use the two different point of view of two difference people to explain how this disease effect to this person and help the audiences to be more interesting to watch this.

White Scene

Black Scene
We had used two colour 'Black and White' to show the differece of the view of these two people, the white scene will be shown as the normal person view and the black scene will be for the mental disease person.
Film Reference
SPLIT (2017)
We had used this character for our character reference in our film and watching this movie to decided how we were going to act it out to show that it was the different personality.
This movie was telling about a man who was 'Multiple Personality Disorder' that had 24 different personality.

ROOM (2015)
Room was telling about a woman and her son who were kidnapped and had to live in the small room for the years.

We had use the idea of location setting that about 70% of this movie was only in the room so we deiced to film our film in only one location as this movie. As well as we needed to plan what activities that we could do in the room to create our film to be getting more attention from the audiences.
genre of our film

The genre of our film is melodrama and physiological because we think they are easier than romance, that we decided to do at the first time. Also as my friend, Brave, loves to watch film, he knows a lot of the film that we can use as the reference so it takes us only a few hours to plan our story in our film.

As our film wanted to catch attention from the mystery lovers group, we edited the film in the dark tone of colour to give the audiences the feeling of danger and made them continue to watch it to find out what is going to happen next. Moreover, we had put some of the puzzles in our movie because we wanted the audience to be questioning themselves to that scene.
For Example

Feedback
after finish the production
Tea Pouring

In this scene as we rushed to finish it, we had not checked the camera position that it was in the wrong place, so if we had the chance to fix it next time we will be going to be more carefully while we were working.
Timing

This is another thing that I think next time we need to improve it, as we are not planing how long of each footage video need to be. That made when we are editing they are too long or too short and not fitting into 2 minutes
END
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
The skill that I had been developed through this project is used of the camera. For example knowing the different of the camera shot and movement. Also it was helped me to have more confident to use it - before I was starting to do this project I was afraid to use it because I
thought it was too difficult for me as it had many button of the function on it and when you was filming something you needed to think all the about what kind the image that would come out after you had been shot the video.

Furthermore, this project was helped me to improve my editing skill as in the past I was knowing only the basic editing technique such as adding video and speed up the video. But for this project only the basic technique it was not enough to make my film was outstanding from other people’ works, so I started to research about Sony Vegas, the software that I used to get knowing more about all the important function in it. For example, editing the light and contract in the video, change colour and tone and lastly was adding the filter.

Lastly was creating website, that I had learned how to use wix.com to create the website that let me to put all of my research and coursework into it. The best thing which I was really liked about it was you can decorated or designed in many kind of way that you like, because it had a lot of function that you could play in this website - not just only the basic theme liked Microsoft office. So during I was doing my work it was really fun as I was thinking was should I would put in to it next to make my website looked beautiful.

PRODUCTION SKILL
Strength
Weakness
Acting was the one of our strength in our production, as our main actor, Brave, had the acting experience before he was doing this project. This skill could helped us a lot as our film was about multi-personalities, so that meaning he needed to act and express these personalities.
Communication is the one of the part that is very difficult for me as I am a very quiet person, so when my friend is giving me the director responsibility to me I am nervous to do it. Then will I need to make a big decision I can not make it as I feel not comfortable to tell my friend to do what I want.

Video quality, it is the part that I am very disappointed in as we film in the dark room and don’t have enough light to make our film go up to the standard quality.
Editing was the part that I am proud of, because in my opinion I think it is the most important part. As well as this part determines the mood, tone and quality of the film, which I need to make the research to make sure that my film will up to the standard. Before I go to play around with a lot of equipments such as music, sound effect and software to produce the film.

Improvement
If we have the chance to film again the most of thing that I think we should improve is using more light as I think it can help us to avoid the noise and improve the video quality.
Add more staff is another thing that I need to consider in too, as we have only 3 of us in our production it is very hard to film some of the scene in our film such as the scene on the table that we have only one person hold the light to the actor.
Camera movement is the part that we are not planning it very carefully so when we get in to the location that we need to film we have to make a new plan at there as the room is not very big as we are expected it to be. So next time we may go to see the location first before makes the decision.
Lastly is filming 3 times or more per 1 scene to avoid the mistake - while we are filming we have the limit of time to film our movie. So this makes our video footage for editing is not enough to fitting the duration, which make us need to make a appointment to all the staff to film it again for more video.
Editing Process
Before my final film was complete I had beed editing my film for 4 times, which I used my teacher and my friends opinion to improve my film in the next re-editing. The reason that I was re-editing so many times because I would like to make my film to come out as I was expected it to be - to match to my target audiences.

Best Scene That I Like

In this scene it had taken us about 20 to 30 minutes to complete all the filming check as I needed to find the right position that will hide me from the mirror while I was filming, because the toilet was very small.

END

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
Our target audiences group is older teenager and adult who love mystery story.
In ‘Empty Room’ we will show the point of view of the person who has ‘Multiple Personality Disorder’ to make the audiences are easily to understand our film story, also we want them to get more pressure as the GRATIFICATION. This because we would like them to be more attention to our film and more enjoyable to try to find some hints in our film - more than just sitting comfortable and we tell them the answer.
The reason that we focus to these audiences group because nowadays younger teenager are more interesting in action movie than this type of film. So we think this group of people may have more attention to our film, as they are more patient to watch this kind of movie that telling the story not really fast likes the action movie.

However in my opinion I think we are going through only the halfway to our target group as some of scene in our film is too slow, which can make them feel boring so easily. Also the lighting in our film is too dark that make some of the scene is hard to see what is going on.
How we are promoting our film?

We will use film festival or film competition to promote our film as we are only a student and our movie has a very low budget to film it, so that would be too hard if we would like to show our movie in the cinema.
